Ricardo's Story

Ricardo took part in one of Pavement Project's training sessions for workers in the Philippines.

At this particular training session, some of the children organised to take part did not turn up. Short of children to run the session with, the team went out to the surrounding streets and a local park to find street children willing to participate.

One of those children was Ricardo, a teenager who had been on the streets since the age of five. Ricardo said he felt without hope and had been planning to kill himself before the workers came along, asking for volunteers. Towards the end of the session, he began to respond and to find hope in the Bible stories. As he left the session, a worker heard him whispering softly the words "Jesus, Jesus".
